Society of St Vincent de Paul in New Zealand
Society of St Vincent de Paul in New Zealand was established in NZ in 1867. We are part of an International Organisation which is celebrating 190 years, has 800,000 members and 1.5m volunteers in 153 countries.
We have a structure known as Twinning, which is part of the international structure Solidarity and Special Projects. We here in NZ support member countries Tonga, Samoa and Sri Lanka. We work closely with our people in these countries to fully understand their needs. The NZ support is both funding and material aid. The funding support covers all major areas of need where we can, and can include health, education, sanitation, hardship as a result of climatic and economic events. Our material aid which is to Samoa and Tonga can include good assisting in the areas of health, education, homeware and clothing. Worldwide we have 19 donor member countries currently supporting 90 member countries across all continents
