Congratulations to ADRA on Winning the Collaboration 2024 Award!
We are pleased to congratulate ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) on being awarded the Collaboration 2024 Award for their exemplary SHAPE project—Sustainable Health, Agriculture, Protection & Empowerment. Recognised during the CID's Annual Conference 2024, this award honours ADRA’s outstanding achievements in fostering international collaboration to advance humanitarian and development goals.
The SHAPE project is a remarkable demonstration of ADRA’s dedication to integrating indigenous approaches and practices into development work, empowering communities to shape their own futures. This initiative has successfully united ADRA teams from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Timor-Leste, Myanmar, New Zealand, and beyond, resulting in a rich exchange of knowledge, cultural understanding, and collaborative action.
ADRA’s success with SHAPE underscores the value of cross-country learning and reflection. By embracing Māori values and other indigenous principles, they have redefined conventional development frameworks to better align with the cultural contexts of the communities they serve. This approach has not only fostered a strong sense of ownership among local partners but has also transformed the way these communities engage with and contribute to development activities.
The impact of SHAPE is significant, benefiting over 75,000 primary recipients across multiple countries. From pioneering economic resilience strategies in Timor-Leste to advanced WASH solutions in Vanuatu, ADRA’s collaborative efforts have inspired and empowered communities, creating a sustainable path forward.
We commend ADRA for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to collaborative development. Their work stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when organisations unite with a shared purpose.
