The first year of the International Organisation for Migration’s Cooperation on Migration and Partnerships for Sustainable Solutions (COMPASS) initiative has helped 30,000 migrants.
The initiative is designed to support people on the move and combat migration-related concerns such as human trafficking and smuggling. Assistance provided can include humanitarian items, cash, basic shelter and psycho-social support. COMPASS offers a platform for its member countries to communicate over migration concerns through a multi-regional, comprehensive programme. The programme places a strong emphasis on cooperation on migration mechanisms to enhance local ownership and sustainability.
