There is significant activity happening within the electoral processes of Pacific governments at the moment. A quite round-up as follows:
- Cook Islands - Their election was held on 1st August. The Cook Islands Party (CIP) has gained 12 seats in the house, and Mark Brown has been (re)confirmed as Prime Minister.
- Fiji – Their election is in November 2022. The front-runners are two former military strongmen — Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
- Solomon Islands – Their next election was due to be held in May 2023. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has submitted a bill to Solomon Islands’ parliament hoping to delay elections until after the Pacific Games, in December 2023.
