This week, the Africa Climate Summit is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya – coinciding with Africa Climate Week and themed “Driving green growth and climate finance solutions for Africa and the world”.
The meeting began on Monday, led by the African Union and Kenyan Government, and brings together African leaders and climate activists, facilitating discussions aiming to influence climate financing, action and outcomes for the continent.
The summit aims to decolonise climate conversations and hold rich countries accountable for their role in the crisis. “Climate action is not a Global North issue or a Global South issue. It is our collective challenge, and it affects all of us. We need to come together to find common, global solutions", said Prime Minister of Kenya William Samoei Ruto.
