Brianna Fruean wins Global Citizen award

Posted on 16 May 2022

The Global Citizen Prize recognizes activists across the world whose efforts focus on ending extreme poverty and achieving the United Nations’ Global Goals. The prize aims to identify “unsung heroes” in local communities who have been championing and uplifting the most vulnerable people.

CID nominated climate activist, Brianna Fruean, and we are delighted to share that she has won an award! Each winner receives year-long support from Global Citizen and a donation to their organization.

Brianna Fruean has been leading grassroots community projects pushing for climate justice ever since she first noticed the impacts of climate change on her island home of Samoa as a child. At just 11, she became climate organization 350.org’s youngest country coordinator, and at 16, she became the youngest winner of the Commonwealth Youth Award. Today, Brianna is a proud climate warrior, working to bring small island representation and young Pacific voices to the forefront of global climate conversations.
