Cook Islands Prepared for Cyclone Nat: Reports of Flooding and Power Outages

Tropical Cyclone Nat is passing through the Cook Islands, with strong wind warnings in place for the Aitutaki and Ma'uke Islands.

In low-lying areas of the islands, residents have encountered rough conditions and flooding, resulting in the closure of one school and power cuts throughout the area. However, Operations Manager Bates Manea has stated that this is expected and advises residents to stay away from coastal areas until the cyclone has passed.

Despite these warnings, Cyclone Nat is expected to remain classified as a Category One. Emergency Management Director for the Cook Islands, John Strickland, has assured both the media and the public that the Cook Islands are prepared and resilient.
