The Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM) began in Suva yesterday, a two day summit which brings together Pacific Finance and Economic Ministers from across the region. Themed “Our Pacific Way -Prosperity for All”, the discussion focuses on the economic challenges faced by the Pacific.
Mark Brown, Cook Islands Prime Minister and Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum, gave an opening plenary session at the meeting, and said the meeting provides a "valuable platform to collaborate, share experiences, and develop strategies that will foster inclusive sustainable economic growth, enhance trade and investment, to improve the livelihoods of our Pacific people."
Hon David Parker, Associate Finance Minister, is at attendance at the meeting and said ahead of the forum that “Ministers will discuss the key economic and socio-economic issues facing the Pacific.”
“The meeting will aim to promote regional stability through shaping the regional architecture so that it is fit for purpose and can generate Pacific-owned solutions to the challenges of today,” he said.
