Today marks two years since the military took power in a coup. Since then, the situation on the ground in Myanmar has only gotten worse. More than 3,000 people have been killed, 1.5 million internally displaced, and over 16,000 people remain detained for resisting the coup.
The UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk said:
“By nearly every feasible measurement, and in every area of human rights – economic, social and cultural, as much as civil and political – Myanmar has profoundly regressed.”
