Nearly 6 Million Children Affected as Floods and Landslides Devastate Southeast Asia

Posted on 26 September 2024

Severe floods and landslides have struck Southeast Asia, impacting nearly six million children across several countries. Triggered by heavy monsoon rains, the disaster has severely affected communities in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos, leaving families displaced and in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Infrastructure damage is extensive, with homes, schools, and healthcare centres destroyed.

Authorities are struggling to meet the growing needs of these populations, with UNICEF appealing for urgent support to address food shortages, shelter, and essential medical care. The response is critical to ensuring that children, who are among the most vulnerable in these crises, receive timely help to prevent further suffering.
