New Zealand sends medical help to Niue's Covid experiences

Posted on 11 July 2022

Given the protracted nature of the Ukraine crisis, the pressure on medical teams in Niue to respond to cases of Covid continues to rise. As of June 27, Niue opened its borders to quarantine-free travel and positive cases were detected the following day as part of mandatory testing of visitors to the island.

To assist with the management of Covid in Niue, New Zealand is sending personal protective equipment and rapid antigen tests to supplement Niue’s existing health supplies, as well providing public health strategic guidance. This follows existing support from Aotearoa New Zealand to Niue earlier in the pandemic via economic support and assistance with vaccinations.
