Yesterday the Pacific Islands Forum announced the release of the Pacific Climate Security Assessment Guide, a collaboration between the Forum and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This guide is a critical aspect of, and step in carrying out, the Boe Declaration Action Plan – which was was developed and endorsed in 2018 to help support Forum members in implementing the Boe Declaration on Regional Security.
Dr Filimon Manoni, Acting Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, has said through the guide’s five key pathways “it provides deeper insights into the nature of climate-induced risks on security and highlights the existential threat of climate change in our Blue Pacific Continent.”
