Pacific leaders came together early last week for the 2023 CSO Regional Forum held in Suva, allowing leaders to engage with the policy landscape in the region.
An important aspect of the meeting is bringing together civil society leaders with Pacific Ministers and leaders to decide on common positions and opportunities for effective engagement.
Dr Filimon Manoni, Acting Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, weighed in on the importance of this collaboration ahead of the meeting. “Civil society organisations are recognised by our Forum leaders as a key stakeholder in sustainable development and are an increasingly integral part of Forum processes.”
“We welcome the unique voice and role of civil society engagement across our upcoming Economic Ministerial and Women Leaders meetings and appreciate the ownership and influence their voices bring to regional policy development and decision-making.”
