Up until last week it had managed to keep the virus out of the country with strict border controls over the past two years. The head of the Vanuatu Red Cross Dickinson Tevi told ABC News the virus is "spreading fast". "This means Covid-19 cases are in several islands of Vanuatu. All Vanuatu is in lockdown," a statement read. New Zealand's committed $1.5 million to support the Vanuatu government and is looking at sending further medical supplies in addition to five oxygen humidifiers that arrived the other week.
