One week after the Ethiopian government declared a ‘humanitarian truce’ in its war-torn Tigray region, the situation remains the same on the ground. The Ethiopian government has enforced a de facto blockade on Tigray that has halted the delivery of aid, with only limited shipments allowed in.
The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has urged the world not to forget the humanitarian crisis in Tigray, saying that even amid the war in Ukraine there is “nowhere on Earth” where people are more at risk than the isolated region of northern Ethiopia.
